Docs don't come in half sizes, but several members of the Insider Reviews team who wear normally wear half-sizes have chosen to size down in Dr. Martens. You just need to wear them. The leather is softer, which means they’re way easier to break in.
I've found that Dr. Martens fit true-to-size, but they don't come in half sizes. But I promise you, that place does exist. They'll soften up over time, I promise. For me at least, the boots’ softer, thinner leather serves a dual purpose: The boots don’t have the same chunky effect the regular boots can have on your calves (aka they’re more flattering — a dirty word, sure, but one I do not mind in this case because I’m someone who’s self-conscious about having athletic calves).

The luana had the lug sole pattern, not the original docs tread pattern. With their slimmer silhouette, the Pascals are a great asset to any ladies’ wardrobe. Keep the grease level topped up with repeated treatment with Wonder Balsam or Dubbin; this leather will become super supple and last for many years. If you have the money, I’d suggest spending the extra $100 and upgrading to the Vintage Pascals, which will last quite a bit longer with a more custom fit. Our friends at the Argentinian tannery that make this leather named it Temperley in Homage to the man behind it all. Hi Shine classic two tone formal leather; the subtle two tone effect is made by hand in the final stages of shoe production, so no two pairs are ever exactly the same. This Pascal was constructed on our iconic Dr. Martens AirWair bouncing sole. The luana had 2 rows of side stitching instead of the 3 the 1460 has. Virginia Leather: I've done 12-hour days on my feet in them, and felt no fatigue or soreness.

The customer service rep confirmed that they are indeed real leather (the name is "T Lamper") but that the Luanas are NOT Goodyear Welted, which is why they are a "value style" that was sold only by 3rd-party retailers, like Nordstrom and not ever sold on the official site. You'll likely suffer a few blisters, but if you commit to wearing them in short spurts for the first few wears, you should find them slowly softening up and conforming to the shape of your foot.

Temperley: You'll still have to put in some work until they're perfectly comfy, but it'll be a much less painful process. While the leather will stretch some as you wear it in, tight boots will simply take longer to fully break in. Articulate the shoe as much as you can where your foot bends, and the leather will start to crease and stretch.
